About ConnectED
What is ConnectED?
ConnectED is a Nigerian nonprofit that equips secondary school students with systems thinking, helping them connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world problems and their own ability to create change.
What is systems thinking?
Systems thinking is the ability to understand how different parts of a situation connect, influence one another and produce outcomes.
Who do you work with?
ConnectED primarily works with secondary school students, alongside schools, educators, funders, volunteers and other partners.
Where does ConnectED operate?
We are currently focused on Lagos, Nigeria, with plans to expand our reach as our programme and organisational capacity grow.
Are you a registered organisation?
Yes. ConnectED Initiative for Learning, Leadership and Impact is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. The registration details are in the footer of every page.
For schools
What does the workshop cost?
Nothing. The workshop is free to schools — ConnectED is funded through sponsors and partners.
Who is the workshop for?
Senior secondary school students, SS1–SS3.
How many students can attend?
Up to 100 students in an individual school workshop. The General Workshop on 2 October hosts around 250 students across 20 schools.
What do we need to provide?
Access to participating students, your school hall and power supply, media consent, a teacher taking part in the evaluation, and school-level coordination. ConnectED brings everything else.
How far ahead do we need to book?
Two months’ notice for an individual school workshop. Registration is open.
What is the evaluation you ask teachers to do?
A short assessment of participating students before the workshop, and an observation assessment about ninety days afterwards. It is how we know whether the workshop works, and it is what we show funders — it is the reason the programme can stay free.
Is this exam preparation or tutoring?
No. ConnectED isn’t focused on improving test scores directly. Our goal is to build thinking habits — spotting patterns, understanding root causes, connecting ideas across subjects — that last well beyond any exam.
For students & parents
What actually happens during the day?
Almost no lecturing. Students build, map, argue and present — ten hands-on activities across four modules, working in teams.
Do I need to be good at a particular subject?
No. The whole point is what sits between subjects.
Can I ask my school to host one?
Yes, and it is the most effective way this happens. There is a message on our students page you can hand to a teacher.
For funders & partners
Has this been tested before?
Yes. We piloted the workshop with 84 students at Blessed Assurance College, Lagos in November 2025, with pre- and post-workshop teacher assessments. Teacher-rated systems-thinking-related capabilities increased from 51% at baseline to 72% after the workshop, a 21-percentage-point increase.
What does it cost to reach one student?
₦20,000 covers one student for a full workshop day.
Where does the money go?
38% learning and workshop delivery, 30% logistics, 25% student welfare and materials, 7% impact measurement and documentation.
What does sponsorship include?
Brand visibility across our platforms, direct engagement with the programme, and alignment with a measured educational initiative. In-kind support is equally welcome — venue, transport, printing, AV, catering and photography all go straight into a workshop day.
Still stuck?
We reply within 3 working days — school bookings, partnership enquiries and press all reach the same inbox.
